         Das DLR Institut zum Schutz kritischer maritimer Infrastrukturen beabsichtigt, eine autonome, mobile Sensorplattform für Unterwasser Untersuchungen im Kontext des Schutzes kritischer maritimer Infrastrukturen zu beschaffen. Die Bandbreite der möglichen Einsatzaufgaben umfasst eine breite Palette möglicher Forschungsfragen im Umfeld kritischer maritimer Infrastrukturen, einschließlich der Zustandserfassung und –Überwachung sowie zur Abwehr akut auftretender Risikosituationen oder Bedrohungen.

         Unter ‚kritischen maritimen Infrastrukturen‘ sollen in diesem Zusammenhang sowohl natürliche wie auch künstliche Objekte und Bauwerke verstanden werden. Hierzu gehören u. a. Küstenzonen und –reviere, Flüsse und Kanäle, Brückenbauwerke, Tunnel und Schleusen, Häfen, Terminals und Kaianla-gen, aber auch Bauwerke im Offshore-Bereich wie u. a. Öl- und Gasplattformen, Offshore-Energieerzeugungsanlagen, Pipelines und Seekabel.
