         Im Zentrum des Projekts steht die Untersuchung der Arbeit der Spionageabwehr des Bundesamtes für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) gegen Aktivitäten des Ministeriums der Staatssicherheit der DDR (MfS) in der Zeit von dessen Gründung 1950 bis 1990. Sie soll in eine Organisationsgeschichte des BfV eingebettet werden und zugleich eine Geheimdienstgeschichte des Kalten Krieges sein.
