         Die Klassik Stiftung Weimar beabsichtigt, über einen Zeitraum von etwa 10 Jahren das Weimarer Residenzschloss umfassend instand zu setzen und zukünftig zur neuen Mitte der Klassik Stiftung auszubauen. Das Bauensemble zählt zu den bedeutendsten Bauten der Residenzkultur und gehört zur Unesco-Welterbestätte „Klassisches Weimar“. Auf Grundlage der Welterbekonvention wird größter Wert auf die Wahrung von Integrität und Authentizität des Denkmals sowie die denkmalgerechte Instandsetzung gelegt.

         Die Baumaßnahme „Gesamtinstandsetzung Residenzschloss Weimar“ soll in Teilbauabschnitten unter laufendem Betrieb durchgeführt werden. Zentraler Bestandteil der ausgeschriebenen Planungsleistungen ist dabei die Erstellung umfassender Konservierungs-, Restaurierungs- und Instandsetzungskonzepte, die die unterschiedlichen Anforderungen und Materialien des Bauwerkes sowie dessen Zeitschichten berücksichtigen. Neben der konzeptionellen Arbeit ist die restauratorische Planung, Ausführungsvorbereitung und Durchführungsbegleitung der Konservierungs- Restaurierungs- und Instandsetzungsmaßnahmen Bestandteil der Aufgabe.

         Die Baumaßnahme wird von der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und dem Freistaat Thüringen über ein gemeinsames Sonderinvestitionsprogramm finanziert.
