         Als für das Wohngeldgesetz zuständiges Bundesministerium hat das BMUB die Aufgabe, für einen zielgerichteten Einsatz der auf Rechtsgrundlage des Wohngeldgesetzes ausgegebenen Mittel zu sorgen. Dies erfordert eine regelmäßige Überprüfung der Wirkung und Treffsicherheit des Wohngeldes. Mit dem Projekt soll die Wirkung der am 1.1.2016 in Kraft getretenen Wohngeldreform evaluiert werden.

         Im Zentrum des Forschungsinteresses stehen die Bedeutung der einzelnen Komponenten der Wohngeldreform sowie die Entwicklung des Ausgabevolumens. Zu überprüfen ist die Reichweite der Wohngeldreform u. a. hinsichtlich der Empfängerzahlen und der verschiedenen Zielgruppen, sowie hinsichtlich der Leistungshöhe, der Mietbelastung der Wohngeldhaushalte und der regionalen Einflussgrößen.
